There is also space for fiction and experimentation, such as the television series Boijmans TV and several special animations and remix videos, including the series Moving Pictures, a creative partnership between ArtEZ and the Kröller-Müller Museum.
In addition to distributing videos, ARTtube is also committed to sharing knowledge about (online) videos on art and design. Several times a year, ARTtube organizes knowledge days (ARTtube Academy) and public events at which videos are shown on a large screen.
ARTtube was set up partly to promote substantive collaboration between museums. From joint video productions, live streams and a video contest for the public, to the organization of events and programming at festivals such as Lowlands and KANTOR.
ARTtube is expanding: the shared platform was set up in 2012 by 5 museums (Stedelijk Museum, M HKA, Gemeentemuseum, De Pont and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen). Today, already 19 museums and presentation spaces are sharing their videos with the public via www.arttube.nl – and this number is still growing. In the coming years, ARTtube aims to develop into the leading video platform for art and design in the Netherlands and Belgium, but also internationally.
