In BLACK GRASS – LOVE LETTERS, Fleur van Dodewaard presents work that she created as artist-in-residence in France and Japan in 2024. Van Dodewaard was inspired not only by Japanese calligraphy but also by the landscape paintings and drawings made by Vincent van Gogh in Provence. She is fascinated by the streaks and swirls with which Van Gogh depicts fields, trees and skies in his landscapes.
Van Dodewaard made over 200 drawings in black ink and coloured pencil, a selection of which will be shown at the museum in spring 2025, combined with sculptural objects that Van Dodewaard assembled from old exhibition material found at the museum.
