Vincent van Gogh, Portrait de l'artiste, 1889 Musée d'Orsay

Van Gogh Worldwide is a unique, innovative and high-quality platform that brings together art-historical and material-technical information about the work of world-famous artist Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). This digital platform was launched at the end of 2020. At that time, all the Dutch partners, museums and individuals that had stewardship over a work by Van Gogh were included.

Linked data

Van Gogh Worldwide adheres to the principles and guidelines of the Dutch Digital Heritage Network and Digital Heritage Reference Architecture (DERA). This means that information from the various source systems is published as Linked data and is mutually connected through the use of thesauri. In this way, the information is always reliable and up-to-date. Moreover, Van Gogh Worldwide is the first platform within the museum and cultural world to publish the data in accordance with the Linked Art data model.

Founding partners

The RKD – Netherlands Institute for Art History, the Van Gogh Museum and the Kröller-Müller Museum are the founding partners of Van Gogh Worldwide. They possess in-depth information about the work of Van Gogh. Moreover, they compile specialist knowledge regarding the digital disclosure of data.

Van Gogh Worldwide is made possible in part by the Mondriaan Fund, the Vincent van Gogh Foundation and the founding partners.
