The conservation of Jean Dubuffet’s Jardin d’émail is in the final and perhaps most exciting phase: the repainting of the black lines. Using Jean Dubuffet’s original model and 3D scans, an app has been developed that can be used to determine the exact position of the original lines. A team of painters applies the 1.6 kilometres of black lines in three layers, by hand and with a brush! You can follow it closely with this time-lapse.

The camera takes a photo every minute and the time-lapse is updated every hour. To discover the various functions, click ‘Live’ in the top right corner. Then you can choose from the different options in the menu. Select ‘Live time-lapse’ to see the progress from the beginning.
